Melting point of magnesium halides decreases in the order. Choose correct option.

(A) MgF2 > MgCl2 > MgBr2 > MgI2

(B) MgI2 > MgBr2 > MgCl2 > MgF2

(C) MgCl2 > MgBr2 > MgF2 > MgI2

HEY MATE!!! ❤❤HERE'S UR ANSWER!!! ❤❤

As the stability of a compound depends upon the its lattice energy therefore higher is the lattice energy, higher will be its melting point. ( where lattice energy is the amount of heat energy required to break one mole of lattice )

Therefore the trend of stability is as follow:

MgF2 > MgCl2 > MgBr2 > MgI2

As we know Higher is the stability, higher will be the melting point therefore, the melting point also follows the same trend.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU!!! ❤❤❤
