all were distributed rs 1000 each man got rupees 50 each women rs 10 each child got rs 0.50 how many childrens were there ?

• Number of children = 100 - x - y

Using the given conditions, we can form an equation,

50x + 10y + 0.50 (100 - x - y) = 1000

or, 50x + 10y + (100 - x - y)/2 = 1000

or, 100x + 20y + 100 - x - y = 2000

or, 99x + 19y = 1900

We have one equation with two unknown variables. We cannot solve the equation directly. We put values of x to find values of y.

The solution be x = 19, y = 1

Therefore number of children is

= 100 - (19 + 1)

= 100 - 20

= 80.
