The following are the three measures that express the policy of social discrimination observed by the British in India:

1. The native Indians were not appointed on the governmental high posts. In other words, the higher appointments of administration were reserved only for the British.  

2. The colonial government in the year 1878 passed a law most commonly known as the Arms Act; that banned keeping weapons to Indians without a valid license.  

3. Governor General Amherst introduced a Shoe law, according to which all the Indians had to remove their shoes before appearing to the Governor General, as a sign of paying respect
