The four major groups of Protozoa are:-
1. Amoeboid protozoans: These are the kind of protozoans which live in fresh water, sea water or moist soil. They move and capture their prey by putting out pseudopodia known as 'false feet' as in Amoeba.

2.Flagellated protozoans: These organisms are either free-living or parasitic. They have flagella.Example- Trypanosoma.

3. Ciliated protozoa: These are aquatic individuals that consists a large group of protozoa. Their have numerous cilia on the entire body surface and have two types of nuclei.Example-Vorticella,etc.

4.Sporozoans: These type of protozoans consists of disease causing endoparasites and some other pathogens.Mostly these are uninucleate and its body is covered by a pellicle. They do not possess any cilia or flagella.Example- Plasmodium.
