Pepsin:

1. It is secreted from the gastric glands of stomach.

2. It is secreted in inactive form called pepsinogen.

3. It acts on protein and converts them into proteoses and peptones.

4. It catalyses in acidic medium.

Pepsin is efficient in breaking peptide bonds between hydrophobic and aromatic amino acids such as phenylalanine, tryptophan, and tyrosine

Trypsin:

1. It is secreted from the exocrine pancreas.

2. It is secreted in inactive form called trypsinogen.

3. It acts on proteoses and peptones and converts them into polypeptides.

4. It catalyses in alkaline medium.

Trypsin breaks peptide chains mainly at the carboxyl side of the amino acids lysine or arginine.
