The process of Losing and turning the Soil is called Ploughing or Tilling. It is an important process because of the following Five reasons:-

(i) It allows the Roots to reach Deeper into the Soil. This helps to fix the Plants more firmly to the ground .

(ii) It helps in trapping the Air in the Soil which is necessary for Roots.

(iii) It helps in the soil to remain Moisture for a Longer duration.

(iv) It helps in bringing Nutrients - Rich Soil to the Top.

(v) It helps the Soil to Mio well with the fertilizers and in the removal of Desirable plants called as ‘Weeds’.
