Development is a continuous process. But it can be easily characterized in the following manner:

1. As the idea of development has always been with us, it is possible to carry on the task as desired

2. Development truly involves thinking about question and ways in which we may carry forward with our activities.

3. Goals regarding development may vary from one person to another

(i) Different people have different developmental goals.

(ii) What may be development for one may not be development for the other. It may be destructive for the other.

(iii) Income is the most important component of development, but along with income, people also seek equal treatment, good health, peace, literacy, etc.

(iv) For development, people look at mixed goals.
