Australopithecus is one of the most important descendants of modern-day humans that existed in the whole continent of Africa before about 4 million years. They eventually got extinct before 2 million years. Their key features were –

  • Brain size – The brain size of the Australopithecus ranged from 30 to 35% of the modern-day human, which represented their low IQ level.
  • Their height was ranged from 3.5 feet to 4.7 feet which is slightly lesser than today’s humans. But they had robust body structure.
