It may create hatred and boundaries between some subdivisions of the society. This is because the subdivisions might be supporting a different leader, and definitely there is always one winner in any given competition. The loosing side may not be able to take the competition lightly., this may bring wrangles if they are influenced by their leaders. Peaceful elections should be advised though.
