The two Industrial Regions in India are Mumbai-Pune Industrial Region and Hugli Industrial Region.

  • The Mumbai-Pune Industrial Region extends from Mumbai-Thane to Pune.
  • It also adjoins districts such as Nashik and Solapur. Moreover, industrial development is rapid in Kolaba, Ahmednagar, Satara, Sangli and Jalgaon districts.
  • However, the development of the Mumbai-Pune Industrial Region started with the location of the cotton textile industry in Mumbai.
  • On the other hand, the Hugli industrial region is located in the Hugli river.
  • It extends from Bansberia to Birlanagar in the south about 100 km.
  • Also, industries have developed in Mednipur in the west and Kolkata-Haora from the nucleus of the Hugli industrial region.
