TREATY OF ALLAHABAD :-

  • The son of late emperor Alamgir II known as mughal emperor Shah Alam II and Robert Clive of the East India company.
  • They signed the treaty of allahabad on 12th of August 1765 as a result of aftermath of the Battle of Buxar dated 23rd October 1764.
  • The treaty was handwritten by I'tisam-ud-Din, a Bengali Muslim and diplomat to the Mughal empire.

PROVISIONS OF TREATY OF ALLAHABAD :-

Based on the terms of the treaty,

1. Shah Alam granted the East India Company the right to collect taxes on behalf of the Emperor from the eastern province of Bengal-Bihar-Orissa.

2.Shah Alam to be restored to the province of Varanasi as long as he continued to pay a certain amount of revenue to the company.
