Uses of optical transmission

1.  telecommunication to transmit data in the form of telephone signal.

2. transmit data at very high speed for Internet communication.

2]  The advantages of optical fibre over metallic cable is :

(i) Optical fibres have greater bandwidth ,

(ii) Low noise and better reliability ,

(iii) Faster speeds ,

(iv) Optical fibre can carry signals to the longer distances ,

Mention any two uses of Optical Fibres.

  • Dentistry and surgery. Lights and embellishments. Inspections of the machinery. Applications in the military and space. The use of optical fibre as a "medium" for computer networking and communication is among its most significant applications.
  • This is because it is flexible and simple to mix into wires. Long-distance communications benefit greatly from the use of optical fibre.
  • The technique known as optical fibre is used to transmit data using short light pulses that pass down a long fibre, which is often comprised of glass or plastic. In optical fibre communication, metal wires are preferable for transmission because the signals move more safely.
  • There are two main categories of fibre, and each has a distinct use. They are single-mode (SM) fibre, which only has one passage via a much smaller core, and multimode (MM) fibre, which has a big core and allows for several channels through the fibre.
