The two main steps to preserve a plant specimen are as follows:
1. Pressing: Pressing is done to prevent the plant from wrinkling during drying. In pressing, the plant is placed in the folds of newsprint sheets which is separated by cardboard sheets. Then it is placed in the pressing frame which is then tightened.
2. Drying: Drying is done to prevent the plant from decaying. In this process, the plant in the pressing frame is left in the air to dry.
