Cyanobacteria belong to kingdom monera whereas rhodophyaceae belong to plant kingdom which means Cyanobacteria are prokaryotes and rhodophyaceae are eukaryotes.

Cyanobacteria is also known as blue green algae because they possess blue and green coloured pigments namely chlorophyll and phycocyanin whereas rhodophyaceae are called red algae as they possess red coloured pigment phycoerythrin.

Cyanobacteria have cellulosic cellwalls while rhodophyaceae have cellwalls made of cellulose and pectose.

Cyanobacteria store reserved food material in the form of starch granules, protein granules, fats etc while rhodophyaceae store reserved food material as floridean starch.

Rhodophyaceae reproduce asexually by nonmotile spores and don't show fragmentation while cyanobacteria reproduce asexually by fission, fragmentation ,spore formation etc.
