Main shortcomings in Indian electoral system are
1. This type competition create a kind of social division on the basis of the party. 
2. This also instigate the leaders to use unfair way to win the election.
3. It creates a sense of disunity and factionalism in every locality.
4. Different political parties and leaders often level allegations against one another.
5. Small parties who want to give for the society do not do anything.
6. Misuse of govt.As sometimes corrupted representatives are appointed.

The following are the main shortcomings in Indian electoral system:

1. Elections are very costly and an ordinary man, nevertheless, sensible and honest he may be, cannot contest elections. Consequently, only the affluent section of society can contest elections and thus they try to make money through unlawful methods.

2. The governing party tries to use government workers, vehicles and optional donations to win the citizens in their approval.

3. In the context of India, a large section of society their votes on the basis of religion and caste.
