Mention some common words that evolved from Arabic adopted into English language

There are actually several words from Arabic in the English language. Spanish has influenced a lot of English, which in turn, has been influenced a lot by the Arabic language.

Some common english words:

Alcohol- from "al-kuhl" meaning the kohl in Arabic

Apricot- "al-borcoque"

Artichoke- "al- karsufa"

Coffee- "qahwah"

Lemon-"limun" a collective term for citrus fruits

Lime- "lima"

Saffron- "za 'faran"

Sherbet- "sharbah"

Carob- "kharruba"

Caraway- " al-karawiya"

Syrup- "sharab"

Tamarind- "tamr hindi", meaning Indian date in Arabic!
