Food preservation- The process of treating food in order to prevent its spoilage without losing its nutrition and taste is called Food preservation .
Some common methods to preserve food in our homes are-
1) Common salt as preservative-
common salt is used to preserve meat and fish.
Salting is also used to preserve raw mangoes etc.
2)Sugar as preservative-
Jams, jellies and squashes are preserved using sugar.
Sugar reduces the moisture content which inhibits the growth of food spoiling microbes.
3)Oil and vinegar as preservative-
Oil or vinegar prevents spoilage of pickles because bacteria can't grow in an environment formed due to these preservatives.
Example- Fruit, vegetables, fish and meat.
