He eventually sufficed and altered South Africa's discriminatory government system.
How He Overcame His Struggles/Hardships
Nelson Mandela fought through being discriminated against by sticking to his goals. Mandela never did anything oblivious to his success and kept working hard. He started by creating an all black law practice. He then joined the ANC (or African National Congress). This group protested against racism in South Africa. The ANC also secretly planned to overthrow the corrupt government and fight for the rights of South Africans in their home country.

Nelson Mandela overcame racial discrimination in South Africa. He did so mostly between 1942 and 1994. He did this to establish the rights of himself and his people. He kept working hard and even involved violence to get the message across that he and other South Africans had natural rights they were not getting. It took work and sacrifice, but Mandela is a modern day hero.
After The Heroic Event
After the event Mandela retired from the public eye and went to go spend well-deserved time with his family. He asked future generations to keep fighting for social justice, much like he did himself. He had continuous health problems which eventually led to his death. This, however, did not stop his wonderful ideas on social justice and equality.
Status Today
Mandela sadly passed away on December 5th, 2013 due to lung problems. He has left an enormous legacy on South Africa and even the world with his inspirational work. He was willing to do whatever it took, including violence, to get his point across. Many people can respect the hard work he's done to make the world a more just place. Nelson Mandela will never be forgotten as one of the greatest leaders South Africa has ever seen.
