If different resistances or electric appliances are joined with each other such that there is only one path for the flow of electric current then the  combination is called Series Combination.

Disadvantages of connecting electrical appliances in series in domestic wiring :-

→ if we connect our electric appliances in series then if one of the appliances stop working due to any defect or other reason then all the appliance stop working.

For example : if one bulb fails none of the bulbs in the circuit will light and you not know which bulb is the one that failed.

→ In series, all the electrical appliances have only one switch due to which they can’t be turn off or on separately because all are connected to same switch. usually we use parallel connection on domestic wiring as each component can be used independently.

→ In series connection the resistance increase too much so that we can't get proper amout of electric current.
