The French society was divided into three division that were Clergy , Nobility and 3rd estate.

The French society divided into three estate,

1) Clergy

2) Nobility

3) comprises of small peasant, small businessman, landless labours etc.

(i) the first estate enjoyed certain privileged by birth .

(ii) they were exampted to pay taxes to the state.

(iii) second estate consist by nobles and the member of royal family.

(iv) they were also exempted to pay taxes.

(v) they enjoyed fedual priviledge by birth.

(vi) the first and second estate comprises 40 per cent population and comprises 60 per cent property at all.

(vii) third estate comprises 90 per cent of population but comprises 40 per cent property at all.

(viii) but they have to pay direct taxes like: taille.

(ix) there are 600 member in third estate and 300 member in first and second estate.
