Erosion can be checked in many ways.Maintaining protective plant cover is one.Planting crops(grass or grains) in alternative strips can be adopted.

Using mulch or introducing crop rotation also reduces the duration of time the bare soil is exposed.Contour ploughing,building terraces that intercept and stop downward movement of soil.Netting is a temporary form of erosion control.Maintaining plant cover reduces wind speed.Growing crops in intervals across a field of cereals,and using trees and shrubs as shelter belts or wind breaks are also helpful.Taking pits at points at borders of the plot also is useful.Plant fencing is a conventional method .
