The constituent assembly of India had a lot of problems. The prominent problems faced by the assembly were:

1)How to frame a constitution that can satisfy a huge population of around  360 million people  present throughout the country with diverse culture and heritage.
2)How to ensure democracy for all citizens of the country, what should be the limits of the democracy .
3)As the country had already witnessed communal violence during partition so the main aim of the assembly members was, how to design a constitution that can ensure the prevention of communal voiolence in future.

As we know that the constitution of India was drafted by a constituent assembly after the independence but Motilal Nehru with his 12 colleagues drafted a constitution much before in the year 1928 but certain ammendements has to be done on it.

It took around 2 years for the 299 members of the constituent assembly to draft a constitution.

On 26 Nov 1949 they successfully drafted a constitution for the republic of India but it was implemented on 26 Jan 1950 and to mark this day we celebrate it as republic day.

Which drafting a constitution for India the makers of the constitution were anxious about it.

The had to draft a constitution in which certain human rights were provided to each and every citizen and no - one was denied to them.

They had to uplift the lower castes as their condition was worsened during the colonial rule of the English British.

For this certain seats were specially reserved for the SC' s and ST' s in the constituent assembly.
