The two main stages of the Russian Revolution of 1917 were a generalized way of defining a lot of incidents in two parts.
The first stage was the February revolution of overthrowing the monarchy and establishment of a provisional government.
The second stage was October revolution, more economic in nature, of overthrowing the provisional government and establishment of dictatorship.
