The Russian Revolution of 1917 had two stages. They were:
(i) The February Revolution or political stage when Tsar abdicated his throne and the Mensheviks under Kerenskii came to power.
(ii) The October Revolution or economic and social stage, when the Bolsheviks under the leadership of Lenin overthrew Kerenskii's government and seized control. It affected Russia greatly. The result of the February Revolution was the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II and the institution of the Provisional Government govern Russia until a Constitutional Assemble

There was a revolution in February (traditional Julian calendar) overthrowing the monarchy, and a revolution in October, overthrowing the provisional government.
However, the Russian revolution is much more complex, and the whole period between these two ‘stages’, as you called them, was filled with a lot of incidents, such as the July days (armed uprising against the provisional government).
And, in a sense, the Russian Revolution wasn’t over in October, but only beginning.
