The two words that were included in the Preamble of the Constitution during 1970s are Socialist and Secular.


These terms were added by the 42nd Amendment in 1976. The term socialist means achievement of socialistic goals through democratic, non-violent and evolutionary means. Secular means that all religions are equally respected. There is no state religion. All the citizens are permitted to profess, practise and propagate any religion.
