Heya buddy..!✌️
Here is ur answer...!✔️
Nutrition is the process by which an organism gets nutrients and utilizes them to obtain nutrients, and energy to repair tissues and build new ones.
There are several steps involved in the process of nutrition. These are:
(i) Ingestion
(ii) Digestion
(iii) Absorption
(iv) Assimilation
(v) Egestion
We will discuss about each if them in brief.
⏩ :
The process of intake of food is known as ingestion. Human beings take food with the help of their hands and mouths while unicellular organisms take in food with the help of finger like projections known as Pseudopodia.
When food enters the mouth of humans, it is moistened by saliva which contains an enzyme known as Salivary Amylase. The Salivary Amylase helps in the break down of food.
⏩ :
After taking the food inside the mouth by ingestion, the food is carried to the stomach passing through the Oesophagus. In Oesophagus, peristaltic movements take place which push the food forward. No digestion takes place in the Oesophagus due to the dearth of Enzymes.
When the food reaches the stomach, partial digestion of food takes place. Here, gastric juices are present, i.e., HCl, mucus, pepsin and renin. HCl is a very strong acid with a pH less than three. HCl makes the medium acidic for the activation of pepsin enzyme. Pepsin converts the Proteins into peptobes and peptides. Mucus is present on the inner lining of the stomach to prevent HCl from coming in contact with the lining. This is because HCl can even dissolve an iron nail. Renin is only present in infants to digest milk.
Then, the food reaches the small intestine. The main digestion process takes place here. Here, bile juice produced by the liver and pancreatic juice produced by the pancreas help in further digestion. Intestinal juices also help in the digestion of food here. There are three enzymes working here - Protease, Amylase, and Lipase.
⏩ :
After the complete digestion of food, it is absorbed by the body in the form of energy. This is known as Absorption.
⏩:
After the Absorption of food, its nutrients are utilized by the body in order to perform various functions. This process is known as Assimilation.
⏩ :
After the Absorption and Assimilation of food, the remaining waste part which is of no use of the body is transported to the rectum to be eliminated out of the body. Rectum temporarily stores the faecal matter in it. After that, it is eliminated out of the body through the anus by the process of Egestion.
Hope this much is satisfactory...!⭐
