In this field Rabindranath Tagore and Satish Mukherjee had played a great role. For propagating learning of Indian traditions and culture along with modern values and developments in own national languages, Tagore established a great education centre, named 'Shanti Niketan' and Mukherjee started 'Dawn Society'.
In order to organise a national educational system, the necessity of constituting a National Council of Education was felt. This Council was established during a meeting held in Calcutta on November, 1905. On 14 August, 1906, National College and School of Bengal was established.
The partition of Bengal took the form of a movement during 1905 and ultimately it turned into the Swadeshi Movement which had its far-reaching impact almost on all sections of people.

1. The Swadeshi movement was able to give the Indians a political knowledge regarding mass movement. Indian people learn that if the majority of the people come forward for a common cause, then a mass movement would certainly become successful.
2. Every family in the Bengal province took fast on the day when Prafulla Chaki was executed (hanged). And the second incident was the police torture on Bhupendra Nath Dutta,the editor of "Yugantar",for this sharp criticism on the partition of Bengal.
3. The Swadeshi movement also gave birth to armed movement. The tendency to resort to violent method occurred in some section of activists.
