From Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh there is a time lag of two hours. Hence time along the standard meridian of India(82°30`E)passing through Mirzapur is taken as the standard time for whole country.
82°30`E is almost the middle meridian of longtitude of India.
The globe has been divided into 24 time zones . In every zone , local time of the middle longtitude is taken as standard time of the entire zone.
