Similarities between mitochondria and chloroplast:

1. Mitochondria and chloroplast both are bounded by double membrane envelope.

2. Both mitochondria and chloroplast are semi autonomous organelles.

3. Mitochondria and chloroplast both have their own genome (DNA)i.e genetic material.

4. Mitochondria and chloroplast both have their own ribosomes to synthesise some of their own proteins.

Differences between mitochondria and chloroplast:

1. Mitochondria is found in all Eukaryotic cells example plants, animals, fungi.

Chloroplast are found in only photosynthetic Eukaryotic cells like plant cells.

2. Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell.

Chloroplast are the kitchen of the cells.

3.Mitochondria uses oxygen in cellular respiration to oxidize the carbohydrates and fats present in the cell to carbon dioxide and water vapour.

Chloroplast produce oxygen in the process of making food (photosynthesis).
