Mention two demerits of open system of cultivation of microalgae

There are two main cultivation systems for the current production of microalgae: open systems and closed systems.  Each one of the systems has a series of advantages and disadvantages: the first are systems with lower investment and maintenance needs, easy scaling, but they have a more difficult control system, the production is less and with low efficiency, as well as being more susceptible to contamination. On the other hand, the closed reactors are safer, with better operating control, although their cost is the main disadvantage.
