There are many actually. The most common ones have to be:
1. The abolishment of sati by William Bentinck in 1829. The practice of sati, though cruel, was indeed a part of usual practices followed back then and hence when the governor general decided to ban it, it was seen as an infringement of the local custom by the people.
2. The general services enlistment Act,1856.
As we all know that a huge number of Indians served in the British Indian army during the colonial era. In Hinduism, particularly for brahmins, it is said that it is prohibited to cross the ocean. Now this act made it compulsory for all the Indians, serving in the British Indian army to go and serve at all places, including overseas, as ordered. This again was viewed as a lack of respect of British for the Indian religious beliefs, traditions and customs.
Hopefully this answers your question.
