The correct answer is - Reduction reaction.

Copper exists in mainly 2 forms in the environment in the form of its oxides - Cuprous oxide or Copper (I) oxide (Cu₂O) and the other is Cupric oxide (CuO). Its ionic forms are - the cuprous (Cu¹⁺) and the cupric (Cu²⁺) forms.

The Cupric form (Cu²⁺) is the more stable form and copper are majorly available in the human body in the Cupric form in the enzymes, pigments etc. However, the transition keeps happening in between the cuprous and the cupric forms.

Copper is capable of taking up electrons easily and also donate them as it 2 lone electrons in the outer orbitals. However, the cupric form accepts extra electrons to form the cuprous ion.

Cu²⁺ + 2 e⁻ → Cu (reduction)
