Mercury is the only metal which is liquid at room temperature. It is because mercury doesn't share its electrons with other elements. Metal elements usually react with other elements easily. But in the case of mercury the atoms are bound very strongly towards the nucleus.
Mercury is a liquid state silver metal which glows more. It basically doesn't share electrons with other elements. Maybe that's why!
