*Newland law of octaves:-
merits:-
1) John newland arranged the known elements in the order of increasing atomic masses and found that every eighth element has properties similar to that of the first

demerits:-
1) this law was applicable only upto calcium after calcium every 8 element did not possesses the same properties similar to that of the first.
2) newland assume that there only 56 element existed in nature no more elements would be discovered in the future but later several new elements were discovered whose property did not fit into the law of octaves

*doberniers law:-
merits:-
1) dobernier law has great significance and predicting atomic mass and properties of middle element even in these days this element resemble in their properties.

demerits:-
1) all the element discovered at that time could not be classified into trades d'avenir could identify only three trains from the elements known at that time.

Mendeleev periodic table:-
merits:-
1) in Mendeleev periodic table and leaves left gaps for the element not discovered at that time he named as such elements by to fixing a Sanskrit numeral eka that is one.
2) he also predicted the atomic masses and properties of several elements that will not known at that time elements like scandium gallium and Germanium have properties similar to those predicted by mendeleev.

demerits:-
1) isotopes of an elements have similar chemical properties but different atomic mass in Mendeleev periodic table no place was given to these elements
2) the atomic masses do not increase in a regular manner in going from one element to the another so it was not possible to predict how many elements could be discovered between two elements.
3). few elements doors possesses high atomic mass for passed before elements having a low atomic mass.

Modern Periodic Table:-
merits:-
1) the fundamental basis for Modern Periodic Table is atomic number not atomic mass hence it is more accurate
2) the table is based on atomic number and isotopes have same atomic number and chemical properties so they can be put at one place in the same group of the periodic table
3) the position of Cobalt and Nickel is justified itself because atomic number is Cobalt is less than atomic number of Nickel.
