pipeline has so many merits and demerits some are
MERITS
1) there is no trans-shipment losses or delays in transportation of material
2) by pipelines we can transport solid , liquid or gas . Solid by converting it into molten state.
3) until cost is higher but subsequent cost is normal.
DEMARITS
1) Initial cost of laying pipeline is higher
2) it so many risks like pipe is leaked than there is blast or the resources is waste and pollute the soil

Pipeline was earlier used for the transportation of water and now they are being used for the transportation of crude oil, petroleum products and natural gas. Merits : 1. Pipeline transport network is a new arrival on the transportation map of India to transport liquid as well as solids in slurry form. 2.Subsequent running costs after laying down the network are minimal. 3.It rules out trans-shipment losses or delays. Demerits: 1.Initial cost of laying pipelines is high. 2. Pipelines can burst or can have leakage leading to wasteage of valuable resources like water, mineral oil, etc.
