Dams are useful for many things including providing cheap electricity and water. Dams are made to last a very long time, by building them they create many jobs for many people. Dams can also can create homes and a habitat for surrounding native animals, by creating a local water source for them and for some giving them a home. Dams also protect animals by rubbish control/debris control. Dams can also store a lot of water for future use, this water can then be used for emergencies such as fires. Dams also can prevent flooding by taking the water instead of it going into the ground. Building dams also provide irrigation control, this then makes farmer’s jobs easier and provide more water for their animals.
