heya frnd!!

here's ur answer...

★ METAL ★

APPEARANCE OF METALS:-

1. metals are shiny in nature.

2. metals are hard in nature.

3. metals are solid except mercury.

4. metals are malleable, that is metal can be converted into thin sheets.

5. metal are sonorous. that is metal produce sound when beaten.

6. metals are good conductors of heat and electricity.

★ NON MENTAL ★

APPEARANCE:-

1. non metals are dull in nature.

2. non-metals are soft in nature except diamond.

3. non metals are solid, liquid and gaseous.

4. non metals are non malleable except plastic.

5. non metals are non ductile except plastic.

6. non metals are non sonarous.

7. non metals are bad conductors of heat and electricity except graphite.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:-

★ METAL ★

1. reaction with oxygen-

a)metals react with oxygen to form metal oxide.

metal+oxygen=>metal oxide

b) sodium and potassium reacts vigorously with oxygen to form metal oxide. therefore they are kept in kerosene oil.

2. reaction with water-

a) metals react with water to form hydrogen oxide.

b) sodiuyand potassium reacts vigorously with water. therefore they are kept in kerosene oil.

sodium+water=>sodium hydrogen-oxide

3. reaction with acid-

metals react with acid to form hydrogen gas.

sodium+acid=>sodium chloride+hydrogen gas

★ NON METALS ★

1. reaction with water-

non metals don't react with water except phosphorus,which react with oxygen and catch fire.

2. reaction with acid-

non metals don't react with acids.

DISPLACEMENT REACTION:-

in this reaction a more reactive metal replace less reactive metal but a less reactive metal can't replace more reactive metal.

e.g- copper sulphate+zinc=>zinc sulphate

some more reactive metal:-

1.zinc

2.iron

3.copper

so now u can understand which are metals and which are non metals.

hope it is the satisfied answer...

thanks!!
