The metal 'M' mentioned here is Aluminium

Its oxide ore is Al203.

Yes aluminium is found as its oxide in the earth it is due to the reaction of aluminium with the atmospheric oxygen...And Aluminium when reacts with oxygen...forms an oxide layer over it which makes Al resistant to react further....thus finally forming Al2O3....
