heyy buddy!!

metal oxides are basic in nature. Some of the metal oxides react with water to form alkalis. Metal oxides turn red litmus to blue.

sodium metal reacts with oxygen in air to form a basic oxide called sodium oxide

4Na + O2 -> 2Na2O

sodium oxide react with water to form an alkali called sodium hydroxide

Na2O + H2O -> 2NaOH

due to the formation of sodium hydroxide alkali a solution of sodium oxide in water turns red litmus to blue which proves it is basic in nature.

hope this would help u and if it does plzz mark it as brainliest :):)
