Given,

Final velocity = v = 180km/hr

Total time = t = 0.5 min

Intital velocity =u = 0 km/hr

To Find,

Total distance covered by train in half a minute, s =?

Solution,

As we need to convert all values in metre and second,

v = 180km/h = 180 * (1000)/(60*60) = 180* 5/ 18 = 50m/sec

t = 0.5 min  = 0.5 * 60 = 30sec

By first equation of motion we know, v = u + at (Where a is acceleration)

Therefore, 50 =  0 + a *  30

a  = 50/30 = 5/3 m/ sec ²

From the third equation of motion, we get v² = u² + 2as (where s is total distance)

therefore,  50^{2} = 0^{2}   + 2* (5/3) * s

2500 = 0  = 10/3* s

s = 2500 * 3/10

s = 750m

Hence, the total distance covered by train in a half-minute is 750m.
