It is a Single Displacement Reaction.

In this type more reactive element displaces the less one from its aqueous salt solution.

Here , Mg ( Magnesium ) is more reactive than Cu ( Copper ) so hence it displaces it from its Salt solution that is Copper Sulphate to Magnesium Sulphate.

Hope it helps...

This is a displacement reaction.

  • Mg or Magnesium is a more reactive metal than Cu. So, it can easily displace Cu metal from Copper sulfate and form magnesium sulfate as a product along with Cu metal.
  • The balanced reaction is as follows-
  • CuSO_4+Mg \rightarrow MgSO_4+Cu
  • In this reaction, one mole of copper sulfate reacts with one mole of magnesium metal to form one mole of magnesium sulfate along with one mole of Cu metal.
