Data:
M (Michelle) and A (Allen)

M = 26 + A → A = M - 26 (I)
M + A = 120 (II)

How many calls were made by Michelle?

Hello!
You will have to replace, the data found in the case, you will find the number of calls made by Michelle, replacing the value of A in the second equation.

Therefore:
M + A = 120 (II)
Substitute:
M + (M - 26) = 120
M + M - 26 = 120
2M - 26 = 120
Put the number without letter to the right of the equality, changing the signal when changing sides.
2M = 120 + 26
2M = 146
M =  \frac{146}{2}
\boxed{\boxed{M = 73}}\end{array}}\qquad\quad\checkmark

Solution;-

Let us assume that the number of sales calls made by Allen be 'x'
Therefore, the number of sales calls made by Michelle will be x + 26
Together, they both made 120 sales calls.
According to the question.
x + x + 26 = 120
2x + 120 - 26
2x = 94
x = 94/2
x = 47
Calls made by Allen is 47

and

calls made by Michelle is 47 + 26 = 73 in the last month.

So, the option (B) is correct.
