Reason why Mitochondria is the power house of the cell:
After we eat, carbohydrates in food are broken down into simple energy particles known as ATP or in other words also known as adenosine triphosphate. This process makes Mitochondria as "power house of the cell".
These ATP are released both by cell (through cytoplasm) and mitochondria adding up together, an energy of 36 ATP is released. More than 90% of energy is released by the mitochondria thereby giving it the name of powerhouse of the cell.
