Military rule is better than civilian rule

Answer:
Assuming that you have a bias in favour of military junta, let me answer your question.
No. Military rule is never better than the civilian rule - ever.
And there is a reason for that; a civilian administration of any country is designed to address the day to day problems and challenges faced by the population, including police and military personnel. The military, by the virtue of its role as the protector of a country, is designed and trained to take hard decisions to preserve and protect the country.
Therefore, the military is simply not equipped to address the challenges of civilian life on a daily basis. The military may have excellent training standards and stringent selection processes, but the truth is that no matter how quick, adaptive, responsive or responsible military officers are, they just do not have the temperament for governance. The following are some reasons that should help you look at it from a whole new perspective:
Military commanders and senior officers are not used to hearing the answer, “no” to anything. Can you imagine what would happen when a military government’s officer issues a direct order to a teenager or young professional in a typical urban environment today? Now compound this scenario across an entire population. Then you will understand the disaster that it can turn out to be.
The military institution is designed with the concept of complete obedience and discipline. Military officers would be scandalized and if they see the day-to-day civilian life, due to the lack of order and discipline. By virtue of their position of power, they may resort to using disproportionate force to ensure public compliance.
Some professional military forces are known to take over governmentstemporarily to ensure that enemies of the state do not thrive during a national crisis or political deadlock. But that still doesn’t mean that the military can administer a country better than civilians can in any way.
In the case of a junta, expect an overly-armed military force as the generals will have limitless power to do whatever they want with the national treasury. If anything, the recent economic and political situation in countries such as Myanmar and Pakistan should tell you what happens when the military wields too much political power.
In the case of a junta government, say goodbye to all independent courts, civil societies, rights bodies, advocacy groups, etc. The military of any country, in general, goes by the old adage, “a protruding nail will be hammered to into the wood”.
Please show me the evidence of one successful military government that has brought laurels to any country for a sustained amount of time. Compare that to the number of countries which are successful and have civilian administration. You’ll get your answer.
Disclaimer: I am patriotic and admire the hard work that the soldiers of my country (of residence and origin both) do. But soldiers are meant to be in barracks and bases - not in the presidential palace of the country.
