Area = area of square-area of two semicircles
=100-22/7*5*5
21.42

Perimeter =two sides of square+ perimeter of circle
=10+10+2*22/7*5
=51.42

The area of the figure is 21.46 cm² and the perimeter is 51.42 cm

Given:

Minoo has cut out two semicircular pieces from a square sheet of size 10 cm.

To find:

Find the area and the perimeter of the figure obtained.

Solution:

Formula used:

Area of the figure = Area of the square - Area of 2 semicircles

Perimeter of figure = Perimeter of circle + 2 [Side of square]

The side of the square = 10 cm

Hence, Radius of circle = 10 cm/2 = 5 cm

Area of figure = [10]² - 2 [π (5)²]

= 100 -  78.54 = 21.46 cm²

∴ Area of the resultant figure = 21.46 cm²

Perimeter of figure = 2π(5) + 2 [10]

= 31.42 + 20 = 51.42 cm

Therefore,

The perimeter of the figure is 51.42 cm
