Mir jafar didn't support nawab in the battle of plassey. give reasons

He did not do so because he was given an offer by the British officials that they would make him the next Nawab of Bengal if he supported the British.. therefore in order to attain the position of Nawab in Bengal he did not support the Nawab Sirajudullah..
