Rs. 95 must be received from the 5th passengers to have an average of 92.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the rupees received from the 5th passenger be “x” rupees.

The average rupees received by Mithun from the 5 passengers = Rs. 92

The no. of passengers = 5

The sum of the rupees received by Mithun from the first 4 passengers,

= 89 + 94 + 86 + 96

= Rs. 365

We know that the formula of average is given by,

Average = ( sum of quantities ) / ( number of quantities )

Therefore, based on the above formula, we can now write eq. as

\frac{[365 + x]}{5}  = 92

⇒  [365 + x] = 92 * 5

⇒  x = 460 – 365

⇒   x = Rs. 95

Thus, Mithun must receive Rs. 95 from the 5th passengers to have an average of 92 rupees.
