Mitigation strategies adopted by Nepal and Indian government in the Nepal earthquake

The earthquake of 7.8 in Richter scale struck Nepal on 25 April 2015. It led to a huge amount of loss of lives and property.
The government of Nepal took the following measures for rescue, relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction :
1. It enforced the Essential Services Operation Act and ensured the supply of essential goods and services to the affected region.
2. The government constructed temporary safe shelters in sixteen different parts of the valley.
3. It granted NPR 40,000 per dead person and NPR 100,000 to each family that has lost one or more of its members as Cremation Cost and Assistance to the Family of Victims.
4. Initially it decided to provide NPR 25,000 per injured person to the hospitals. Later it decided to provide free of cost treatment to all the people injured in the earthquake.
5. The government has effectively provided information for the safety, security and well being of the citizens through different mediums of communication.
6. The government has deployed teams for data collection related to the earthquake.
7. It organized the International Donors' Conference.
8. The government has advised all the contributors at home and abroad to contribute to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund.
9. The government passed a 27 point resolution on 13 May 2015 to undertake the relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation works.
10. The Ministry of Youths and Sports announced that 500 - 50,000 youth volunteers would be sent to each affected district.
The Indian government decided to donate $ 1 billion in cash and materials to Nepal.
