Given : Mode of symmetric frequency distribution is 84.

the first quartile is 68,

To Find :  the third quartile.​

Solution:

Quartiles

Q₁ =  Lower Quartile  1st

Q₂ = Median

Q₃ = Upper Quartile  3rd

Symmetric distribution hence mean = mode = Median

=> Q₂ = median = 84  

in symmetrical distribution  Q₂  =   (Q₁ + Q₃)/2

Q₁  = 68

Q₂ = 84  

Q₃  = ?

=> 84  = (68 + Q₃ )/2

=> 168 = 68 + Q₃

=> 100 = Q₃

third quartile is 100
