Modern age is known as mineral age because today everything we see around us is in some way related to minerals. Directly or indirectly. Today almost all industries are based on minerals e.g. iron and steel,copper smelting industries etc. because today everything we see around us is in some way related to minerals.

Modern age is also known as mineral age due to the following reasons :

- Due to the various techniques of development in industries and evolution further it led to extraction and innovation of new minerals.

- Copper was extracted during the copper age by using copper smelting method.

- Using hydrometallurgical extraction technique further oxides of copper ores were also extracted in the industries.

- Recently huge amount of gold was found in Sonbhadra (India) which was a very successful and innovative extraction.
